If you’re not hearing any sound from your device—whether it’s during calls, while playing videos, or receiving notifications—don’t worry. Let’s walk through a few simple steps to check your sound settings and get everything working again.
How to Troubleshoot Sound Issues:
1. Check Your Volume
- Press the Volume Up button several times to increase the sound.
- If you're on a call or using a media app, make sure you're adjusting the correct volume setting (e.g., media, call, ringtone).
2. Review Sound Settings
- Go to Settings > Sound or Sound & Vibration
- Make sure that all volume sliders (Media, Notifications, Ring, Alarms) are turned up and not muted.
- Confirm that Silent Mode or Vibrate Mode is not enabled.
3. Make a Test Call
If your device can make calls (via an app like TextNow or another VoIP service):
- Place a test call.
- While on the call, press the Volume Up key to increase in-call audio.
- If you can hear the other person, your speaker is likely working fine.
4. Disable “Do Not Disturb”
This setting can silence all sounds, even if your volume is turned up.
- Go to Settings > Sound & Vibration or Notifications
- Locate Do Not Disturb
- If it’s ON, tap to turn it OFF
Still No Sound?
If you’ve tried all the above and your sound is still not working:
- Restart your device
- Try plugging in and unplugging headphones
- Check for software updates under Settings > System > Updates
